Well -there's- technology I'm going to try to avoid in a PC. It might be
fine from a standalone game console or DVD player, but I'm not going to be
hemmed in on a PC. I suspect many feel the same in principle.
I don't know that it will gain enough traction to stay in position even if
it gets there (or is there already). If people are tossing iPods over ACC
and going back to MP3, what's that say?
The answer is to simply, en masse, refuse to buy into this crud. If it
doesn't sell, the companies have no reason to run with it no matter how
much the IP owners complain and whine. When they can't sell it under
tightly controlled mediums, they'll be forced to switch mediums or simply
not sell. It's really quite simple. Unfortunately, your average consumer
is about as well educated about these things as a retarded lemming.
You know, it -used- to be that being on the front end of the adoption curve
was cool and had benefits. Nowadays it's the best way to get the shaft.
