You need 5.0.11 or later. That's the first version that was fixed for RH9
and up modern era glibc/kernel versions. And that (and later versions)
won't work on the older systems, either. I think it requires glibc 2.1 at
a minimum.
Dare I ask why you don't just download a 5.6 demo? It fits the requirement
of running on your modern linux dists, and you don't have to use any
functions you don't want to. Unless you're trying to cross-platform
test something specifically against 5.0.xx, I would think this would be
suitable and expedient.
