I have two dual quad core boxes... one running FreeBSD and the other Ubuntu.
One runs postgreSQL & filePro and the other runs Java.

Actually I'm writing this message via a Ubuntu live CD remote desktop'd into my
XP box. It's a cheapy dell precision with 1 gig of memory, and the uptime is now
49 days. Now it's to the point that perhaps we'll have to have a party or wake
if we have to power it down or the UPS fails.

The toshiba laptop I won at the 2003? filePro developers conference has been
running Ubuntu since Christmas when XP couldn't control the fans properly
anymore and it kept overheating and locking up. I haven't turned it off since
I'm guessing May? I keep it up 24/7 since ubuntu.

I'm guessing in a week or two we're going to move a large section of our users
to remote disk boot and have'm run ubuntu.

YMMV.

For me, it's almost a perfect replacement for desktops.
