Sorry for not having changed the subject line.
Nice article and basically explains my experience with a friend of mine
who bought a new machine because the hard drive on his old one crashed
and he felt it was time for a new one. I was getting dizzy just
following what he was saying on the phone in order to help him out.
But this will only help a little in getting more people on Linux. Linux
is just too easy to break by the average user and too difficult to just
get up and running. Now if Apple were to make their OS available for
something other than Apple-manufactured equipment then MS would have
something to worry about. Until then MS will still be the dominant player.
BTW, I'm about to setup some 10 to 12 new machines at work. XP will be
on all of them. Vista is out of the question and I don't want to have
to help so many people climb the learning curve for Linux. (Not to
mention have to get new licenses for Linux and modify all the code.)
