The honourable and venerable Barry Wiseman spoke thus:

I'm not seeing the irony. PHP can be used to talk to fP just as easily as
Perl or anything else.

Now if he had the MySQL logo on there, I'd see the irony. :)

But speaking of PHP, advertising that fact is like hanging a sign on your
car that says, "Please steal me." Well, there aren't many ways to hide it
in the URL bar, but a big honkin' image just tempts crackers. You'd have
to see the 20-60 security alerts -per week- about PHP-based apps on the
SANS digest to understand why I'd never advertise PHP as a "good thing".

By contrast, the last Perl-related alert I remember was in strftime()
itself, in the core perl package, not an app, and was probably about a year
back. ASP apps I think I've seen like only 2 notices in the last year.

IMHO, no matter how easy PHP is to use for some people, if it encourages
that many folks to code that poorly with no sign of improvement, it's not
well designed. In fact, I'd tentatively say it's fundamentally flawed in
that it lets people that readily shoot themselves in the foot.

We won't get into building it or backwards compatibility between even 3rd
tier version numbers. *cough* I'd need another 10 screens.
