You assume correctly.  How long has that been there?  Because I've been
unaware of it since 4.1 in 1993.

Given that feature's presence, okay...that addresses my point and then
some, since you can check expressions before and after line execution.  So
it's actually better than I thought.  I stand by the rest of what I said
unless proven similarly uninformed, however.
