Deep Creek Lake State Park, MD - very nice place - I was there a few months
ago for their big fall festival (October, I thinkst). Recently found out
they have skiing somewhere near there. But sure was a drive from Baltimore
area - didn't know you could drive that far and still be in Maryland. Ate
at a decent family-type restaurant right on the lake with great views.
I agree with John about PA, my Dad lives up in that west-Poconos area -
beautiful. But you know what they say about PA - you're in a bar just
minding your own business and next thing you know you've got a guy that
looks like Barbara Bush staring at you with that "nothing's better for thee
than me" look in his eyes . . sorry I couldn't resist :) But you CAN
easily play that PA game in the car - "Is the name of the last town weirder
than the last one?"
But heck it'll be August for you, Bob - if it were me I'd head further north
New England or where Ken was suggesting.
