As some advice for some of the novice filePro developers on the list,
I've been burned by trying to recycle old fields a couple of times.
It usually happens when I have to modify code that I didn't write. A
business owner will guarantee that a field wasn't referenced any more and
insist that I reuse the old field number. Of course, some old processing
table or report shows up that used that field, even though I've done an
extensive search to try and see if the old field might be referenced
anyplace.
In one case it was a once-a-month EDI application that was writing
directly to the filePro key file that burned me.
So, my advice is: Unless you are thoroughly familiar with the whole
filePro system you are working on, don't re-use old fields!
