Don,

Since this is a Windows environment, all the server is doing is
serving the files (filepro executables as well as the filePro
database files).  Any "heavy lifting" is being done mainly on
the client (e.g., the client computer is running the processing, 
accessing the files, etc.).

A few things to check:
1) was there any virus scanning software installed or updated on
the server?
2) any network (physical layer) changes?
