In the filePro 5.6.x help files, concerning @ID it says:

  The name of the current user. Also applies to Windows
  for release 5.0.12 and later. Name of current user limited
  to 8 characters in Windows.

which seems to imply that its length is (or can be) greater
than 8 on other systems, but doesn't specify what that length
is (or can be).
