ASCII mode FTP (was RE: Fw: error)

Is it just me, or did John Esak say:

Really quickly, I've only kept up with this very casually but here's what I
found when I peeked.

A quick look under the Transfer->Transfer Options yields a dialog box.
Under that there are two options, Default Protocol, and Select Protocol to
Configure.  Next to the latter, there's a button marked Configure.

I set the "Select Protocol to Configure" to "FTP & SFTP", then hit the
Configure button.  There's a new dialog that pops up, and second option on
the right is Binary, which for me is checked by default on an
out-of-the-box configuration.

I'd presume that's where it's set, and presume it's to be set prior to
doing the transfer.
