Hello all,
Three things... but before I get to them, Thanks for the great response on
the filePro Survivor Series Accounting... many of you have jumped on board
already and your purchases are much appreciated. I am just as happy for you
as I am for me... you get a great package that can enhance everything you
do... and I get a few dollars for the (enormous and committed) effort.
Anyway, thanks.
First, I had an incorrect link on my site www.valar.com pointing to an old
set of pages that did not contain anything about the *new* SS filePro
Accounting. The correct link is now there, so you can try again if you saw
nothing new. The direct link is www.valar.com/survivor_series
Second, a few of you who bought the package specified Express Mail, and I
have tried to contact you each individually... to let you know that we still
have 12" of snow in our driveway, and the snow plough guy is *stuck* about
1/2 a mile from here... so he says he might not get it cleared until
tomorrow. So, I won't be sending anything out of here at least until
then... At worst case, they will go out Saturday or Monday... but in all
cases, I will refund your $18 and the shipping will be on me. (Another
problem is that Karen has just had both her knees replaced on Tuesday... and
I have not even been able to get out of the house to visit her in the
hospital. Tomorrow, they are moving her to a rehab hospital and I will be
part of that process for a good bit of the day... so that is why I'm saying
Saturday, or even Monday before disks can fly out of here. Be patient, I
guarantee it will be worth the short delay.)
Third, several of you, (hard to believe, isn't it?) have inquired about
integrating parts of the SS Accounting with your own products. I briefly
mentioned this on the web site somewhere, but here it is in a nutshell with
pricing... First, if you are just integrating some code or large parts of
the SS Accounting with your *own* programs, for your own use... obviously,
this is their whole reason for being... and there is, of course, no charge
for doing this. More power to you, that's why I wrote the stuff. However, if
you are a developer, and you want to take advantage of the thousands of
hours of programming time, and hundreds of functions I've put into this
package by including some of it, either code or a whole module or modules
into something you sell, then I do want two things. I want to know who you
are, so I want you to contact me, and I want a one-time fee of $200.
Conclude these two requirements, and you may include my stuff in as many
units of your product as you can sell. The more you sell, the happier I'll
be for you, but I don't want any more than the original $200 fee on top of
your original purchase price. Which for just 4 more short weeks will be
$599. If you are just going to install the whole package somewhere, I would
hope that you would have the client just buy it directly from me, don't pay
me anything extra, and go make some money customizing the SS Accounting to
their needs (and integrating it at the same time with your own stuff.) This
is a round-a-bout, yet simple, way of saying I don't want anyone to buy the
package and re-sell it whole to other people... this would be a no-no. You
can take parts of it, even entire modules, or the entire complete set and
*integrate* it into something you sell, and do this for $200 total. But you
can't just copy the disks and resell them as is.
Thanks again everyone,
John
