Just a question about Vista and FP... no need for a long/involved thread...

To the PTB,
Acknowledging that Vista has these new file sharing techniques and other new
things.... and also acknowledging that I just got a note from Nero saying
that they are "authorized" to be compliant with Vista... would it behoove FP
Tech to get a copy of Vista for testing from now... or, is it completely
unnecessary because of the way filePro itself works? I think I saw a note
from Ken that said filePro works with Vista just fine.... is this a
definitive statement? The only reason I ask is I just heard of someone who
bought a Vista machine, put it in place and started working his apps (none
of them filePro by the way) and several of them didn't function properly.
They had to revert to their old machine and put the Vista based machine
aside until the problem is worked out.
It would be bad if a filePro user running some complicated filePro based
networking app changed over to a Vista machine and had the same kind of
experience. I realize the Beta of Vista has been out forever, and I'm sure
Ken has done his usual curious thing... but can we assume that FP Tech has a
pretty much front burner project going to vet out filePro and the release
version(s) of Vista? So that when any of us decide to move to a new O/S
there will be 100% expectation of no problems. For the first time in the
past several Windows O/S's, I have not even glanced at the new offering... I
have NO idea whether this is necessary or not. It just sounds so because of
the duplicate files and sharing and etc., which I have seen bandied about in
various places. Could be this is an immediately answerable question... and
it could be that I just missed an already given answer. I've been very busy
lately. It may also be a question of the N/A variety (Not/Applicable).... in
that filePro, as written, makes no use of Vista features, and Vista will
likewise make no changes to the way filePro has always worked. I'll take
yes, or no as an answer when FP Tech delivers it. That's all I need.
(Although, I have no immediate plans to move everything over to Vista... I'm
very happy with XP SP2. It's just that Vista may do Screen Readers better,
and I'm always concerned about that.)
So, thanks in advance for a reasonably quick answer.
John
