Does DELETE close a lookup?

And neither did I, Jose.  I did not say "an alias is open after it is
closed".  I said "an alias (evaluates as) true, even if that alias('s
file) is then closed".

The only thing I ever GOTO is "Continue" labels inside routines.

Nope.  I caught this while writing the code.  After 21 years, I try to
do that whenever possible.  :-)

Alas, Ken appears to agree with you: the truth value semantics of
lookup aliases are not what I need.
