No it did not, it simply went into remission.  You MUST find the 'root' cause
because it is just a matter of time before it pops its ugly head again.  

Rebuilding indexes buys you time, it is not a permanent solution.  

Of course, if the 'root' cause was an index needing to be rebuilt, then you
hit the nail on the head  :)
