Thanks.
Visual Basic wasn't bad and was a lot of fun, to be honest. The first few
sessions, I was "translating" processing in my head from filePro. VB
language is very very similar to filePro. All the gosub and goto processing
runs pretty much the same way. Only VB has the "else" keyword (If, then,
else), which filePro doesn't. FilePro uses screens. VB uses "forms". The
@wef and @wlf labels in filePro would be similar to each gosub process on a
check box, radio button, or command button.
SQL was interesting and a very different, complex way of gathering certain
records (sort of like filePro's selection sets).
Crystal Reports was really bizarre and was nothing like filePro's define
output.

Welcome back, Butch. How do you find those languages as opposed to filePro?

Good morning.
I finally found the filePro group after all this time. This is Butch Ammon
from Super Radiator Coils in Richmond, VA. You might remember me, you might
not.
Super Radiator is still, still, still, running SCO Unix and filePro 4.8.
Yes, we are way behind the times, but the system is 100% stable and never
has had a problem. Super Radiator has slowly moved over to an ERP system
running Global Shop Solutions, on twin servers running Windows Server 2003.
We still have filePro on SCO Unix and run the systems side by side. Ever so
slowly, and carefully, over the upcoming years, we will eventually phase out
filePro. (Sorry!).
As a programmer, I have been switching gears and have been trained in Visual
Basic, SQL, and recently, Crystal Reports. What a drastic change from
filePro!
I hope all is well with you all.
