Hi Scott,
Well, I for one would not recommend Debian if it's going to have any
exposure. They're typically one of the last to be patched for security
issues and traditionally lag behind in general. I thought this was
changing as of a year or so ago but recently heard yet more comments about
it lagging behind when I was talking in one project community. Debian's
bigger in hacker circles...I think of it as an upscale Slackware, although
it does have a package system, etc. It's still not something I consider
really suitable for commercial purposes unless you have an admin handy to
roll your own patches in place of Debian's--or are willing to wait a long
time, from what I've heard. I'd say on that basis, it could be an
expensive dist to migrate onto.
Technically, as long as they provide libtermcap, you should be good to go
with a modern vintage (ie., glibc 2.2 and up, I believe was the requirement
for filePro).
