I totally agree with you ... and that is the way 99.999999% of everything
I've ever written is done. However, just a few days ago I had a reason to
make a qualifier for just a very specific purpose... and it did not *need*
(all the up to 26) indexes some of the other files have. In fact, it would
slow the process down just a little to have them all there when copying
records to this qualifier... it only needed 1 index (and almost doesn't need
that). But why force that index to be the same as the same lettered index
in the other qualifiers?? No good reason. So, after seeing this nifty and
pretty much unheard of way to do a very neat thing (that almost everyone
needs to do from time to time) and being able to use this new qualifier
approach... is very worth having the ability to have different indexes on
different qualifiers... whew long sentence, let me catch my breath... :-)

Meanwhile, the 4th Quarterly FP Survivor Addendum CD is coming out at the
end of this month (probably going out next Monday) and *it* describes in
particular this unique use of qualifiers that has so many other
possibilities I'm sure it will become a staple methodology for filePro
developers who see it. At least, I hope it will... making things easier
using all the flexibility of filePro is what it is all about, right?

The Version 2 Survivor Series is taking much of my time now... I really want
it out for a November 1st release... I may *not* continue the "free"
Addendum extra with this new version. (That doesn't mean I would do it for a
fee... just probably will stop it all together. Yes, I know many of you
have sent in messages about how much you like the CD's... but there isn't
much incentive for me to do them every quarter and I hate responsibility
these days. :-)
