OT: Next Version of Survivor Series CD's

All,

Simple... too much to elaborate on here, but essentially I bit off more than
I could chew... So, at this point, I will not be releasing a Version 2 of
the filePro Survivor Series as planned. Basically, I can not provide a full
General Ledger program as I wanted. It is just too difficult to put out
something that would be flexible enough for everyone, yet have all the
required safeguards that anyone might expect to be in such a program. I've
come very close, but not enough to leave me feeling that it would be up to
the extremely high standards of the rest of the current Version 1 CD's.

Instead, I may release the "rest" of the Version 2 upgrade... with only a
template filePro G/L that works fine to demonstrate some of the various
techniques I wanted to show, but does not purport to be something one could
just install and go with as a base G/L. I will still include all the source
code, so a savvy filePro programmer would be able to modify to his (or her)
heart's content, but that would be the only guarantee. As for ensuring that
all the 5.6 filePro features are covered, I believe I can still do this...
however, the change in all the G/L code so it can at least be 90% generic or
so is taking more time than ever I expected. Also, I will wait for a filePro
version 5.6.4 or higher before releasing this newer Version 2. As I said
this project has become enormous, and if I (and you) want the final product
to be as good as the current version, I'm going to need much more time. (and
here I always thought I was a God...) :-) :-) Actually, one of the unknown
variables at the time I started this project is a *different* (unrelated to
filePro) much larger project that is now taking more of my time and it has a
real deadline.

I will still release the 4th Quarter (and final) Addendum CD on time as
scheduled and promised. (It will be out by end of September... and this one
will *really* be a doozy!)You can still purchase the full Version 1 filePro
Survivor Series training CD's (and get all 4 Addendum CD's) any time. THOSE
PURCHASING THE CURRENT VERSION ANY TIME BEFORE VERSION 2 IS RELEASED WILL
GET VERSION 2 FOR A TINY MEDIA CHARGE AS PREVIOUSLY OFFERED.

As for the Version 2 set, I will *try* my best to have it ready for
Christmas.... Yes, it's going to be 4th Qtr instead of 3rd... maybe even
later. All I can do is promise that it will be worth the extra time it will
take me. In the meantime, the current version is still the best way you can
learn filePro from scratch to advanced level programming... without knowing
anything about programming or filePro beforehand. Those of you who have
gotten the current series know that it is well worth the price and has
provided you with endless ideas and support for your filePro programming.
Over 100 people have purchased this series and are continuing to enjoy
it.[1] So, if you're wanting the best way to learn filePro. don't wait
around for the next release... go with the currently available filePro
Survivor Series. You can find it at the address below.

Thanks,

[1] Here are a few unsolicited comments about the current version 1 series.

"John, this course is just fantastic. It is the best thing I have ever
bought for filePro. I wish this had been available when I first started out.
I have learned so much from them, and I've been working with filePro since
the early '80's. Thank you. Thank you."

-Dr. Robert Pulliam

"There is nothing like this anywhere. The way you start from the very
beginning and develop a full application is perfect. I found things from the
starting chapter that I didn't know, or never thought of using the way you
do. There is nobody who couldn't learn filePro completely from these disks.
As soon as other software designers and developers see these movies, you can
bet your idea will be copied over and over again."

-Scott Walker (in the FP Room)

"Wow! John, this is the best filePro information I have ever seen. There is
nothing like this available in Australia. There are no classes here in
Australia either, but these CDs are so much better than classes because I
can go back over them as many times as I want whenever I want. This set is
easily worth $1,500. You are crazy for selling it so cheap. Thank you for
letting me beta test it. I learned more than I ever thought I knew going
through them. The only problem is that I haven't been able to do anything
else but watch these damn things since I got them. They are totally
addictive. Honestly, they are just really, really good. I think everyone
will love them."
