fPSQL error

Twice to myself did I write in the forest, but a question have I still:

Turns out this was a permissions problem on the root directory of the
server. One of the existing SQLs worked because it had no "GROUP BY" and
therefore did not need to create temporary sorting file in the root dir.

Is there any way to direct these temporary sorting files to another
directory?   We have already tried PFTMP.
