Serial Printing

Hello,
SCO UNIX 5.0.6 - FP 5.0.14

I have a PERL / Specialx serial card that I have
a DYMO Labelwriter se300 connected to port ttya3.
The labels print fine. When dreport runs and the screen
shows records selected the following error flashes on the
screen and then goes away.

sh: /dev/ttya3: cannot execute

If I run the command
date > /dev/ttya3
I do not see the error
Has anyone seen this before? I have searched the web with no luck.
