No dispute on the technical side, and you would never catch me running
'doze as a server personally.  But this only holds as a valid argument
if you can actually afford to make and protect the investment inasfar as
getting and staying up to speed at a minimum depth of immersion.  If you
can't, it's not actually going to be an investment, is it?  Let's be
honest:  "How to be a Linux Admin in 21 Days" type books just don't cut it
and never will.  Superficial familiarity is insufficient insurance.

Let's just say that (in keeping with the investment metaphor), like the
stock market, it's not something you just rush into because you want or
even need a quick fix.  Those are usually the cases in which it's the most
ill-advised move in either field.  It's the OS "day traders" that cause me
to worry for them.
