I think this would be an excellent deal, John. I enjoy the tips and tricks
you have presented in the past on both the Survivor Series CDs and the
video's you put out before.
Now, are you talking about a video podcast, or audio? I tend to enjoy audio
podcasts more for the simple fact that I can listen to them while driving.
Like Mark and several others pointed out, there is not enough time in the
day to keep up with all the news that is available via RSS. The same goes
with video podcasts. There are plenty of them out there I enjoy, but I just
don't have time to set in front of a screen and watch them. With audio
podcasts that's not a problem. At the beginning of the week I load up my
iPod with my favorites podcasts and listen to them throughout the week while
I'm driving to and from everywhere. It's wonderful. As a matter of fact,
since I got my iPod and started downloading podcasts, I haven't listened to
my satellite radio hardly at all. But I digress....
I think it is an excellent idea.
Also, if you hadn't looked to deeply in the software side of things yet,
take a look at podcastamatic at
http://bradley.chicago.il.us/projects/podcastamatic/. Just dump your .mp3
files (or whatever format you choose) into a directory, run podcastamatic
(or run it via cron), and it will produce a web page and rss feed for you
contaning all of the items in the directory. It will read the tags in the
mp3 and all, so it's almost effortless. It is a perl script, so it's pretty
easy to deal with. I've been using it for about 6 months now to produce the
feed for a local church's podcast. It's worked very well.
Sorry to ramble, just thought I'd share.
