Confusious (George Simon) say:
FAR TOO LITTLE for a 488 line post!
Bill, I seem to remember (correct me if I'm wrong) you stating at some
point that you had a piece of software written that strips MIME attachments
from mail. If so, I don't suppose you'd consider implementing it as a
filter to this list?
If you don't have one, let me know so (when I actually get time to code
one) I can write one myself for my inbound mail. I'd rather not take the
time to reinvent the wheel on this one, honestly. I know I -can- do it,
it's a matter of not having the time or energy right now.
I find it simply ludicrous that a 5-line request on a simple 80x25 terminal
should take 20K in 488 lines and include 4 images--however well compressed
they were. I looked at the images separately to see if they were even
related to the request, and 3 of the 5 weren't.
Let Smitty make his (alredy expected and usual) smarmy little comments
about the world moving on in colour and how we're all restrictive and
outdated dinosaurs and all that rot. Like I give a flip. This is just
getting nuts.
And George should just know better by now, period. -Anyone- that's spent
an appreciable amount of time here should. Not following the generally
stated wishes of the majority is simply flouting the "rules" as it were;
frankly it's just an indicator that the sender is either just plain stupid,
or inconsiderate as hell.
I don't consider it censorship if everything except the top-level
text/plain and text/html multiparts is stripped. If someone can't
elucidate their message in English, that's their problem. These were
nothing but vanity images anyway--and elucidated nothing even by their
presence.
Had he actually had 488 lines and 20K worth of something to SAY, no matter
how off-topic, I wouldn't have said a peep. That wasn't the case.
