If you don't "already" play, I wouldn't do that if I were you, which 
I'm not... but, I have seen many pick an instrument... wait, get it, 
and either never learn, or find out it doesn't really suit them for 
any number of reasons.  You can get a decent starter package for 
under $250 and some under $200 to get your feet wet.  Once you have 
gotten to the point you can play and know what you would like it to 
feel/sound like, then go shopping.  You might just find the dream of 
today will not match the reality of tomorrow even if funds aren't an 
issue.

I ran into this same thing in the mid seventies while doing some 
acoustic guitar work.  Everyone was all high on Ovations and for a 
while I was going to join that crowd.  I finally got a chance to 
have one in my possession for a couple of days and could never get 
comfortable with the rounded back, either sitting or standing.  That 
is why all these years later I still have my Yamaha FG-300 and if I 
needed anything better it would be an authentic Gibson Dove or 
Hummingbird without a single thought regardless of the cost, period.
