Don't know if it's too pricey for your need, but it's only slightly heftier than an
ipod and makes wonderful recordings. Has both line and mic in (altho the built-in
stereo condenser mics are pretty wonderful), writes to SD (supports cards up to 2Gb),
in either WAV or MP3 up to 320kbps.
I got this for recording band practices. I just set it down next to me, press
Record, and forget about it. I get awesome rehearsal recordings, easy to rip to my
ftp server so the whole band can listen the next morning. It's a hot new item so
you'll probably still find it backordered wherever you look -- I waited several
months for mine.
