Mark,
I have 20+ HP iPaq's in the field. They are the combined cell phone/PDA
and using GPRS and SSL (MS Exchange server) to keep the users email up
to date while in the field. We have found Pocket PC to be a fairly
stable OS. Like everything there are a few things you can do to make it
more robust.
Most MS apps. Pocket Excel, Pocket Word, etc work as expected and
integrate well with the desktop editions, once again a few quirks,
especially with Pocket Excel. IE shows the biggest differences. It has
limited JavaScript capabilities but the server can determine that the
client is Pocket IE and adjust accordingly, as so many sites, Google,
Google mail, etc currently do.
Overall, quite useable devices generically.
