Ah, but hard errors aren't the only cases.  You could accidentally be
sitting at a table selection or index selection prompt/box and it's not
technically an "error".  And yet--it should die a quick and polite death
while stating why it bailed.  I've seen someone forget the index and have
it wait.  It happens.
