The thing that bothers me the most about you people defending Filepro is
you keep pointing out poor programming. Filepro don't fix that either. Why
don't you tell me what Filepro can do that I can't do with Mysql and VB, or
C++, or C# or any number of programming languages. The reason is you can't,
period. I really like the one where they make system calls to bring up
Internet Explorer,(oh my God, a GUI program) and put them at the UPS web
site. That's nice. I can make XML calls to their web site and have the
information and display it to you faster then IE opens.

How about programming speed?

Now I'll grant you that you can do more with the tools that you are working
with. but for raw speed in getting up an application, I'll take filePro
over any that you are using.

Now, I am stating this for the type of clients I work with.

By the way, I have nothing against GUI applications. I saw that my client
needed an easy way to get tracking information periodically about a shipment
and I wanted to make it easy for him to get it. I didn't;t need any outside
tools, filePro allowed me to accomplish my goal. By the way, he can get
tracking on up to 5 shipments, the max. UPS allows in one pass. His
workstations are quite fast and the response is almost instantaneous.

Tell me, how long would it take you, with any of the above to program the
following:

1. Questionnaire file containing 12 questions
2. Two separate files with names
3. Have the associated questionnaire appear on screen when the record is
looked at.

This is not the only information stored in the two name files.

I answered this challenge in a previous e-mail. But in filePro I did this
in 15 minutes. this was while my Clients were out of the room we were
talking in and they had to take a conference call. They had just asked me
to do this and it was completed by the time they returned.

One point I over looked, there can be multiple questionnaires in the file.
