Historically 24x80 was the lowest common denominator for dumb terminals
(let's forget Apple ][ 40 character and the Radio Shack Modek I/III 64
character abominations shall we :-).
The default display for most xterms is 25x80, and my guess would be that
Windows programs like Anzio, putty, and teraterm default to 24x80 or 25x80
as well.
Changing the display size from the defaults generally requires that the
end-user *THINK* and *ACT* which is always dangerous.
I haven't a clue how the FP folks have programmed their screen interface
other than that is uses termcap extensively. If they take their screen
info from the termcap li# and co# variables, then changing the termcap(s)
may well allow changing the screen size. Be aware though that changing
these can have unintended consequences (such as having to learn and
understand termcap).
