The above code is for 10 pitch (a fixed pitch font)

If you want the same font at 10 pt, then print at 12 pitch

$1b (s12H

If you are using a proportional font and REALLY want 10pt, then

$1b (s10V

is appropriate. You MUST be using a proportional font for the last 
command to have an effect.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "hex code".
