Many browsers allow you to click and hold the "back" button, and it
will display a list of previous pages.  You'll see that the first one
is the redirect page, and the second "back" page is the one you came
to.  By clicking on that one, you can get around this poor design
"feature" of the site, and actually go back.  (Personally, I wouldn't
put it past several sites to have done this on purpose.)

Opera can be configured to open a new tab when you middle-click the link.

Or, at least have a link at the top for a non-gizmo page it possible.
(If not, then have a "requires Gizmo 7.3 or later" message that appears
if you don't have it, rather than giving you a blank screen.)
