78 decimal is hex 4E. The second column is a 4, and the last column is F.
Like some barcodes, it is designed with rotational symmetry -- if you
rotate it 180 degrees, you can still read the 2nd and fourth column, as
4F. So I can only conclude that you made a mistake during your hex
conversion :-)
