Dan,
About 1/3 of our computers are Mac. That is what led me to Filemaker. The
server version will run on OSX, It will be nice to keep thing on a *nix box.
They have a trial download. I guess I'll give it a try and find out for
myself. Thanks for voicing your opinion.

Joe,
I haven't used Filemaker recently, but I used it extensively in the past
(versions 2 through 6? all on the Macintosh platform, including the server
version and the web version). I found it very easy to use and stable. Our
server (a standard desktop Mac from 7 years ago) hosted about 50 users
including 10 which accessed it over a T1 WAN connection. It was extremely
reliable, rarely giving us trouble.
If your a Mac shop (printing companies often are), FileMaker is a great
choice. I'm at a PC shop now and even though I already know FileMaker, we
plan on doing stuff in Access since...
1. We already have some Access licenses.
2. Several users already had some knowledge and programs in Access.
3. Other companies using our ERP system know access & provide sample code
for hooking into it to add features.
4. Our small town has plenty of inexpensive local contractors with Access
knowledge.
5. When looking for IT employees, it's easier to find people that are
familiar with Access.
PS: Before I get flamed...
I'm not promoting Access, since I don't particularly like it or Microsoft!
I'm simply stating why we decided to choose it.
Good Luck. I hope that helps.

Since the changes in filepro are not coming as fast as we need them, we are
looking at several alternatives. One being Filemaker. Anyone using this
with success? The development time of new applications and ease of changes
is what has been keeping us with filePro since the 80's. Hoping to find a
something with the same ease of use.
