I thought long and hard before I decided to answer your obscene response to
my post. I mean really I don't think what came from your mouth even deserves
a response because frankly you showed your ignorance and fears. And don't
give yourself any credit for offending me because you can't. My response is
only to show that your answer to my post, and most people of this list
defending File Pro on this list, is based totally in fear. Fear that if File
Pro goes away you won't have a job any more. Actually I fell sorry for you.

1) I did NOT bash File Pro in my post. Mark made very good points to the
question that was asked and as I stated, I agree. I just disagreed with his
take on information about the future of File Pro from FP Tech. To me, that
was very clear in the post from the CEO that he is NOT going to put any
effort, time or money into File Pro because there is no future in it. That
to me is a very good business decision. He will support it for now because
it does generate an income but he is not going out of his way. People
responded to the list when that was posted and had the same take so I know
I'm not alone but even if I am I really don't care. I know your anal
retentive and you have that post so I suggest you go back and read it and
this time with an open mind if you can do that.

2) Your right you don't know anything about me. So let me tell you. As I
stated many many times in my posts, I think you guys are better programmers
than I and certainly know more about Operating Systems than I. My expertise
is in the automotive field. 40 years worth. I taught myself computer
programming but not until the 90's. And guess what, it was File Pro. The
reason I'm on this list is because the company I work for still uses this
antiquated piece of software. For the last 6 months or so I have been
involved in a project that has showed me that modern development tools and
databases are light years ahead of File Pro and in our changing industry I
believe we need that technology. And I have taught myself that.

3) You know what I really find funny about you guys. Is your afraid. You are
scared to death that File Pro will go away and you will loose your job. You
are so blinded by your fear that you can't see your real worth. That is the
knowledge of what needs to be done, how it needs to be done, and the
business your in. That just because you had to hire programmers that write
in C++ or some thing doesn't mean your job would go away. You would be the
one everyone relied on to tell them what needed to be done and how. Your
looking at the glass being half empty and I'm looking at as being half full.
John, I surmise that your employer has the utmost faith in you and your
abilities and that you are doing him and his, your company a great
disservice by keeping them on File Pro. 1, they can't do what you could do
with modern programming tools, 2, what are they going to do when you retire?
You think it's going to cost money now to change, wait until your not
around. Good luck trying to find someone who can program in a langue that
was written before they were born. It's a good thing I'm not your boss cause
I'd fire your dumb ass right now for not thinking toward the future. Your
only thinking about yourself because of your fears. That's both sad and
pathetic.

4) And for all of you, you guys seem to think that you can't do custom
programming in any thing other than File Pro. Are you all stupid? I just
read a post today talking about oh, one of my customers convinced his
partners to stay with File Pro because we could get things changed quickly,
blah blah blah, that with on off the shelf system, (I assume that to mean
Oracle or Microsoft) and would take weeks months. Yeah, your right. But what
about you? If you did anything other than File Pro you would still be able
to service them and the time to effect changes would be the same or less.

5) And John you are right about one thing. I want to go away. But I can't
because the company I work for still has people like you that are afraid of
change. You guys are pathetic. You all have you gigahertz computers, cell
phones, palm computers, GPS's and yet you think File Pro is the cats ass. I
have watched all my life people like you, we don't need to go into space, we
don't need computers on cars, we don't need fuel injection, etc. I am so
glad that even though I'm old I haven't stopped learning or moving ahead
with progress. Unlike you. I believe you were once on the cutting edge of
technology, making computers from old transistor radios and such, now your
just an old codger. So go ahead now stick your head in the sand, block my
posts, bad mouth me in your chat room I don't really care. Because you see,
I don't want to be like you or the others stuck in a rut in the past. I'm
going to move forward and enjoy all that life and technology has to offer.
So stay with File Pro you guys, have a nice lonely life. Oh and let me know
when FP Tech finally pulls the plug, that's a conversation with your
superiors I really want to hear. I bet you'll look really brilliant.
