Speed difference between Windows 2003 Server and Novell Server

We are trying to get an idea about the difference in speed we might
expect changing from a Novell Server to Windows2003.
All things hardware-wise remaining the same for network connections and
that kind of stuff, would anyone be able to give us an idea about an
expected improvement or change in the speed.
There are roughly 100 users over all using the network and about 32 in
filePro running filePro 5.0.
Currently, building a particular index on our Novell network can take 1
hour. Same index on a Linux server takes 5 minutes. Where could we
expect the speed of a Windows2003 fall in that range?
I know I did not post version numbers and a lot of hardware details, but
we are wanting some assurance that it will be faster than Novell's
speeds. This also includes a change to a Domain server setup. We are
hoping to get speeds closer to the Linux speeds.
In our tests, with only one active user, it was very much faster.
Could anyone that has made this adjustment, and can offer some idea of
the difference, post there experiences?
Also any suggested "gotcha's" would be great, as we try to get ready for
this switch-over.
Thank you so much for the help.
Nancy
