Excellent explanation Mark.
The only way I see around this, if possible, is to use something like
PcAnywhere to run the report on the remote machine (or a remote machine that
is local to the server) and then download it
.
Probably the easiest way would be to use GOTOMYPC and use their remote
printing function.
