Can't run reports because file locked?

If that is the full quote from the book, then the book
is wrong (I don't have a copy, so I don't know if there is
more said about lockfiles).
The statement *should* be: "It is perfectly safe to remove
lockfiles WHEN NO ONE IS USING IT". Each time a user enters or
leaves the filePro file, the lockfile is updated with that
information. If you were to remove the lockfile when one or
more users are viewing records , adding records, etc., the
lockfile will contain incorrect information when it is written
out as the users leave the file. Additionally, the lockfile
contents will *stay* corrupted until you get everyone out
of the file, and *then* delete the lockfile.
