Check the manual:

    PFINSERTMODE=ON

        Set insert mode on by default in *cabe/*clerk.

        Version Ref: 5.0.9

    PFMEMOINSERTMODE=ON

        Sets default memo editor insert mode to "on".

        Version Ref: 5.0.10
