Can a BRW LOOKUP be done on a -v table or out processing

The lookup itself isn't true or false. You may have something on the If: of 
the lookup line to decide if you want to do the lookup or not, but I doubt 
you have or want that here.

the very next line needs to have the
if: not dict
then: gosub fixname  'name wasn't found in dictionary
if:  ' name was ok or has been fixed up by gosub
then: return    'assuming we were already in a "ckname" gosub

gosub fixname will have the same lookup but with browse enabled
the first lookup will not have browse, it's only purpose is to find an exact 
match or fail.
