Hello,
Just one last (pandering, sleazy, commercialistic) request for more sales...
:-) But, if I don't do it, who will? I'll be mailing out the Addendum CD's
on Monday. (Maybe Tuesday at the latest, since Karen may not be around on
Monday and I have no way to get them to the Post Office). Anyway, the first
week of the quarter is here and that is when the first Addendum CD goes out.
This is your last chance (sort of) to get subscribed. (Remember, if you
purchased the filePro Survivor Series CD's before September, you get this
free... don't subscribe again!)
What is it? Simple and quick... It's a quarterly CD with several movies
showing precise construction of filePro code that is (hopefully) useful.
Several, (not many, but usually 10 or 12) movies about how to use various
functions or features of filePro. They are all over the lot, not connected,
off the top of my head, descriptions of one way to implement some filePro
thing or another. They aren't necessarily long, just enough to show you the
code or the program, or whatever. Also, there will be one complete rendition
of an application, more of a mini-app (or process) that should be useful to
most filePro users/developers. This won't be big or elaborate either, just
enough to make it easy for you to get it working in one of your situations.
If the movie isn't enough, all the code for each movie is included in a
group of filePro files on the CD. (The filePro stuff will be under a filePro
directory in native Unix format. However, this entire directory is also
supplied as a *-r ready" file in "fpxfer format" for Windows users.)
I will be putting a few other things on the CD like demonstrations of
utilities and programs people have available for filePro. Nothing is as good
as a demonstration to see whether a program might be helpful to you or not.
It won't be much exposure for these folks, but more than the current "none"!
(Contact me if you would like to have your "thing" on an upcoming CD.)
Anyway, that's it. The price is $75/yr. I know it sounds like a lot... but 4
CD's with 10 or 12 movies on each one. That's $18.75 per CD, or about $1.50
per movie, and you get to keep and cut/paste the code into your own stuff.
To subscribe on-line (Visa/MasterCard only sorry) go to: www.valar.com/fpsa
While you're near there, if you haven't checked out the Survivor Series
Training, check out:
www.valar.com/trainin
There are samples and descriptions there easy to access. The full set,
Beginning to Advanced (including a CD just for Runtime users) is $350.
Without exception, nearly everyone who has bought this set, sends me some
kind of comment like. "Wow! These are great" or "They should have done this
20 years ago!" Agreed, I wish someone had! Well, no matter, they're here
now, so check them out and get a set for yourself and your company. I know
you'll be glad you did.
Thanks for your time.
