| functionality to issue a system command, is it feasible to issue a system
| command to, for example, run dreport with a prc table that accepts a
| parameter (ie account number), reads that record, and returns something (ie
| name) to the command line. filePro is on Unix. Does anyone currently do
| this, or something similar? Any help greatly appreciated.

ISFAIK, the filePro SYSTEM command doesn't return anything
useful to a processing table for what you're looking for.

However SYSTEM can be used to write tmp files that can be
read by filePro I/O commands, and then removed when done.

I hope this helps, but think it may be the long way around
Robin's (RobinHood's ?) barn.
