Not very.
And at this point it'd probably no more hassle to copy a new routine to an
existing box than it would be to upgrade fp on it to get the new configed.
And a routine wouldn't depend on or have to wait for an fp upgrade either.
But it'd just be nicest if it were in configed, that way it'd automatically
be there for all environments on a box, and the fp upgrades usually have to
happen anyways, and in the long veiw, configed gets around to all boxes
whereas my routine only goes where I put it, and besides, the most
convenient way to use it would be to hit a button while in configed.
Then again, configed seems to be simple enough I could just replace it
completely with editor of choice including some macro/plugin to get the sort
button and another that lynx's the relevant section of the html help, or
better yet, like you said, a filepro routine that also emulates pmaint
without the 9 printer limit, jump to prt table editor into right table for
the printer line being edited, interactive color picker with sample display
showing what it will look like, interacive variable picker library (browse
popup of a filepro file of fp variables? array that is generated at startup
by scanning the .hlp file?) with help and syntax checking and duplicate line
protection, on-screen popup or sidebar showing a syntax definition or the
allowable values for the variable currently being entered...
Or I could just wishlist it all :)
Or if you wrote it I'd probably buy it even though I never got jh
import/export. :)
I mostly just wish there was a sort & group button like I first said though,
mostly to keep the printers collected together and to make it easier to spot
duplicate lines and easier to spot if a given variable already exists or
not. Most of my sites have a couple screens of variables and when they are
all jumbled up like they are after several years of several shortsighted
developers, it's now a (admittedly minor) pain to make simple changes
sometimes.
