The Macs have all the normal *nix tools, secure shell, X11 (not installed
by default, but necessary to run the current version of OpenOffice.org).

The fink project gives very easy access to many open source projects for
OS X as well.

VersionTracker, http://www.versiontracker.com, is probably the definitive
site if you're looking for software for Macs.
