Is it just me, or did Bob Rasmussen say:

What about creating another top level window that's a simple frame with no
menu at all, displaying the image, and then forcing the focus back to the
window that was last active? You already have control of the program, and
you can (or should be able to...I know I can in my toolkit) control which
window takes focus, and when.
Sounds like you're the person best placed to make this happen with existing
software.
