When asked his whereabouts on Thu, Mar 24, 2005 at 08:09:52PM -0500,
CDAY took the fifth, drank it, and then slurred:

Well that's the thing...that might work out front by the walk near the
front door, but it's impossible to get into the crawlspace under our
apartment. And that must be where they first venture when it comes time to
migrate indoors. Then the manage to crawl up the pipes that supply our
heat and A/C (it's set to one or the other depending on the season),
through the hole in the floor reserved for the pipes.

So stopping them outside isn't really achievable near as I've been able to
tell.

Thankfully, no cockroaches in this apartment. BTDT once in '94, and that
was quite enough for one lifetime. We -still- have nightmares about them
dive-bombing us off the ceiling periodically. Except in my dreams they're
about 8" long and orange--at least the last time I had the dream. Never
again on a place that has those things--it's the first thing we asked when
we were looking to move last time. I prefer spiders, and that's saying
a lot. At least in this state, the Palmetto bugs don't fly. They do
in Florida, from what I remember of my trips to St. Augustine as a kid.
*shudder* Different sub-species though. There are like 10 or 12 types,
give or take.

You'd think the spiders could make themselves useful and eat the damned
crickets, though! :) I should start charging room and board if they're
not going to work for a living! We give 'em fair warning. If they start
coming down (or up) from a corner, we tell 'em to get back down there if
they want to live. Some take a clue. Those that don't...well, we DID warn
them. :)

Kelly's got an insect phobia the ilkes of which I've never seen. And I
just don't trust -anything- with more than four legs.
