I have some experience there, although it's been a while. Most of what I
tried didn't work, including gas bombs. Don't know that I ever tried
Juicy Fruit gum, but that had the ring of urban legend to me.

What worked was trapping them. I got a spring loaded trap, placed it
astride the tunnel, covered over with a board. Wore gloves while working
with the trap, to prevent my smell from getting on the trap. I caught
two or three in three days. Pierced right through the middle. I was very
satisfying, in a Caddyshack sort of way.
