Well, it will set the value of the variable in the environment of the
current process, and any child process started thereafter, regardless
of whether or not filePro has used that value to set any parameters.
However, if that environment/config variable is something which is
used by filePro, but filePro has not yet had reason to access that
variable, then filePro will see (and therefore use) the new value
when it does happen upon a reason to look at it.
In other words: yes, basically what you said.
