If you mean, "If you delete a symlink that points to a directory, does it
cause damage?" the answer is no.  The symlink is removed and the directory
(and contents) remain.

If you mean, "If you delete the directory that is the target of a symlink,
does it cause damage?" the answer is a qualified, "Depends what you mean by
damage."  The directory and contents are gone, the symlink will remain and
be "broken", since its target no longer exists.  Any attempts to use it
will fail with a message to that effect.
