Inasmuch as one of Plato's main teaching devices was the Socratic
dialog, it is apparent that Jose believes the questioning of someone's
skills in an argumentative debate is very Plato-like. Hence, "John is on
that 'plato' on his own", i.e. he is the only one questioning...
Jose's choice of words makes perfect sense...
